Our Vision

We strive to be a positive and inclusive organization where members foster collaboration and mutual respect while supporting the Barker Public Library and strengthening community ties.

Our Mission

Our mission is to support the Barker Public Library in its efforts to inspire, empower, educate, and serve the community. We do this through fundraising, advocacy, and the development of collaborative programs that expand the library’s reach and impact.

Our Values

At the heart of the Friends of the Barker Public Library, Inc. is a deep commitment to creating a welcoming, transparent, and collaborative environment for our members, the library, and the wider community.

  • Welcoming and Inclusive: We celebrate diversity and ensure that every person feels seen, heard, and valued—no matter their background or experience.

  • Collaborative and Respectful: We work side by side with the library and one another, honoring each person’s strengths and holding ourselves accountable to shared goals.

  • Trust and Open Dialogue: We communicate honestly and transparently, fostering mutual respect, active listening, and integrity in all interactions.

  • Individual and Community Development: We promote opportunities for personal growth, ethical leadership, and lifelong learning that benefit both our members and the broader community.

  • Shared Vision and SMART Goals: We align our efforts with the library’s mission and community needs, setting clear, measurable, and sustainable goals to ensure meaningful progress.

  • Integrity: We conduct ourselves with honesty, fairness, and accountability, upholding the highest ethical standards in all we do.

Our Commitment

By living these values each day, we aim to build a brighter, more connected future for the Barker Public Library and the community it serves. We invite you to join us in this rewarding journey—where collaboration, compassion, and community come together to make a lasting difference.
